Description
The Balmar MC-618-VL-01 is a Smart Ready retrofit kit that lets owners of Yanmar engines fitted with a factory Valeo 120A/12V alternator add Balmar's most capable multi-stage regulation without replacing the alternator. Balmar's patented Smart Ready design converts the standard single-stage internal regulator so the Valeo alternator can be driven by the external MC-618 Max Charge regulator, delivering faster, more complete, battery-specific charging. Should the external regulator ever fail, the internal regulator continues to provide basic charging as a come-home backup, making the kit well suited to AGM or lithium battery banks.
The kit contains the 30-SR12-02 internal regulator retrofit, an MC-618-H external regulator with wiring harness, and the alternator and battery temperature sensor cables needed to complete the conversion. The MC-618 provides user-selectable programs for deep cycle flooded, standard flooded, gel, AGM, spiral wound AGM, Carbon Foam and LiFePO4 batteries, integrates with the SG200 Battery Monitor over SmartLink, and supports full programming from the Balmar smartphone app when the optional Bluetooth gateway is added. Installation is straightforward and requires only common hand tools, and the kit includes the tool needed to install the brushes. It suits recent Yanmar 2YM, 3YM, 3JH and 4JH engines equipped with the Valeo alternator.

What is in the MC-618-VL-01 kit?
