The B&G and Simrad NAC-3 VRF Autopilot Core Pack pairs the high-current NAC-3 computer with a Precision-9 compass and a NMEA 2000 starter kit, using Virtual Rudder Feedback so no rudder feedback unit is required. It suits outboard and sterndrive boats where a rudder sensor cannot easily be fitted. Add a drive and controller to complete the pilot.

Description

Simrad NAC-3 VRF Core Pack (Virtual Rudder Feedback)

Pack consists of:

000-13250-001 NAC-3 Autopilot Computer
000-12607-001 Precision-9 Compass
000-10760-001 Micro-C Backbone Kit

The NAC-3 Autopilot Computer is the brains behind your autopilot system. NAC-3 contains the control algorithms developed to helm a yacht across a broad range of weather conditions and sea-states, alongside the electronics needed to operate a hydraulic or mechanical drive unit, while also interfacing with other components including heading sensors and rudder feedback units. The NAC-3 was designed for boats 10 metres (33 feet) or greater in length and is rated to operate high-current hydraulic drives, mechanical drive units, and solenoid valves with a current rating of 30 Amps continuous (50 Amps peak).

The Precision-9 Compass

The Precision-9 Compass supplies heading and rate-of-turn information to Simrad, B&G and Lowrance autopilot, radar and navigation systems. Based on reliable solid-state sensor technology, this compact compass offers easy installation aboard any vessel.

What is included in the NAC-3 VRF Core Pack?
The pack contains the high-current NAC-3 autopilot computer, the Precision-9 compass and a Micro-C backbone (NMEA 2000 starter) kit. It uses Virtual Rudder Feedback, so no separate rudder feedback unit is supplied or required.
What is Virtual Rudder Feedback?
Virtual Rudder Feedback (VRF) is a Simrad technology that calculates rudder position without a physical feedback sensor, simplifying installation aboard outboard and sterndrive boats.
What size of boat is this pack for?
It is intended for boats 10 metres (33 feet) or greater, with the NAC-3 rated for high-current drives up to 30 amps continuous.
When should I choose a pack with a physical rudder feedback instead?
Boats with inboard engines and larger vessels generally benefit from a physical RF25 rudder feedback unit, as found in the standard NAC-3 Core Pack.
