Description

The Garmin Reactor 40 Kicker autopilot brings GPS-stabilised steering to boats powered by a small kicker or trolling outboard. The Reactor 40 CCU is a solid-state course computer that senses heading, attitude and rate of turn to hold a course or follow a route accurately. Instead of a hydraulic pump, this system uses a steering actuator that fits into the motor tilt tube to steer the outboard, plus a throttle actuator that controls the motor speed, so the autopilot can hold a heading hands-free. The steering actuator must be installed in a stainless steel tilt tube for reliable long-term operation. This corepack is supplied without a dedicated instrument: the CCU connects to a NMEA 2000 network and is controlled from a compatible Garmin chartplotter, which also feeds it waypoint and route data. Dockside and Sea Trial wizards tune the system to your boat.

What type of motor is this autopilot for?
It is designed to steer a small kicker or trolling outboard. A steering actuator fits in the motor tilt tube and a throttle actuator controls the motor speed.
Do I need a stainless steel tilt tube?
Yes. The steering actuator must be installed in a stainless steel tilt tube. Many motors, including some Honda and Yamaha models, use non-stainless tubes that must be replaced first to prevent the actuator seizing.
Does it include a control head?
No. This corepack is controlled from a compatible Garmin chartplotter on the same NMEA 2000 network. A GHC instrument can be added if you prefer dedicated controls.
What power supply is required?
The ECU connects to a 12 to 24 Vdc supply through the supplied 40 A fuse, and the NMEA 2000 network is powered from a 9 to 16 Vdc source.
