The B&G H5000 3D Motion Sensor is a tri-axis motion sensor that accurately measures heel and trim angles plus the pitch, roll and yaw rates of the yacht. The H5000 CPU uses this data to apply Motion Correction, removing wind errors induced by boat movement for the most accurate wind solution available. It connects directly to the H5000 network and requires an H5000 CPU.

Description

The B&G H5000 3D Motion Sensor provides precision measurement of boat motion and attitude. This tri-axis sensor accurately measures the heel and trim angles as well as the pitch, roll and yaw rates of the yacht.

The H5000 CPU uses this information to apply Motion Correction, compensating for the unavoidable wind errors induced by the motion of the boat. The result is a significantly more accurate wind solution, a key advantage when racing or sailing offshore. The 3D Motion Sensor is supported by H5000 Hercules and Performance systems and connects directly to the H5000 network.

What does the H5000 3D Motion Sensor do?
It is a tri-axis motion sensor that accurately measures the heel and trim angles of the yacht as well as its pitch, roll and yaw rates. The H5000 CPU uses this data to correct the wind readings for errors induced by boat motion.
Why is Motion Correction important?
As a boat pitches and rolls, the masthead unit moves through the air and introduces errors into the apparent wind data. The 3D Motion Sensor lets the H5000 system remove these motion-induced errors, giving the most accurate wind solution for racing and offshore sailing.
Which CPU do I need for the 3D Motion Sensor?
Motion Correction with the 3D Motion Sensor is supported by H5000 Hercules and Performance CPUs. It connects directly to the H5000 network.
Is a 3D Motion Sensor required for the system to work?
No. The H5000 system works without it, but adding the 3D Motion Sensor improves wind data accuracy by enabling Motion Correction. It is an optional performance upgrade.
How does it connect to the system?
The 3D Motion Sensor connects to the H5000 Micro-C network (NMEA 2000 compatible) like the other H5000 sensor modules and is powered from the network.
