Description

The WS740 high-performance wind sensor offers superb aerodynamics and accuracy. A 1.8m high modulus Ocean spec carbon spar elevates the wind sensor into clear air, above any sail-plan disturbance at the masthead.

The WS700 series is the ultimate wind sensor for performance sailing, providing the most accurate wind angle and speed data. The new one-piece vane design gives superb aerodynamics and stability, as a result of over 200,000 hours of combined design and wind tunnel testing.

What makes the WS740S an Ocean Spec sensor?
The S version uses a stiffened high-modulus carbon spar designed to withstand the loads of offshore and ocean racing, while sharing the same vane and electronics as the standard WS700 sensors.
Can I use the standard mast face bracket with the WS740S?
No. Ocean Spec (S) versions are not suitable for the optional mast face bracket and require a custom bracket. The mast top bracket is the standard mounting.
How does the WS740S connect to my instruments?
It outputs a NMEA 0183 MWV,R sentence at 10Hz directly to compatible systems, and connects to a NMEA 2000 network through the optional WS310 interface.
Does the longer 1.8m spar improve performance?
Yes. The 1.8m spar lifts the vane well clear of masthead turbulence, which benefits accuracy on large offshore rigs where airflow disturbance is greatest.
