Description

The Garmin AIRMAR DST800 NMEA 0183 is an all-in-one plastic thru-hull smart sensor that delivers depth, speed through water and water temperature to NMEA 0183 instruments from a single 51 mm (2 in) hull fitting. Embedded micro-electronics process the signals inside the sensor and output standard NMEA 0183 sentences for display on any compatible chartplotter, radar or instrument.

The 235 kHz transducer reads depths up to 70 m (230 ft) and its wide 10 x 44 degree fan-shaped beam helps hold bottom lock on steep deadrise hulls and heeling sailboats, while the operating frequency helps prevent interference with other onboard echosounders. A paddlewheel sensor provides smooth, linear speed output with good low-speed accuracy, and the fast-response temperature sensor is accurate to +/- 0.5 C. The low-profile plastic housing incorporates a self-closing valve that minimises water flow into the boat when the insert is removed for maintenance, and fits hull deadrise up to 22 degrees.

What does the DST800 NMEA 0183 measure?
It is a three-in-one smart sensor that measures water depth, speed through water and water temperature from a single 51 mm (2 in) thru-hull fitting, outputting standard NMEA 0183 sentences.
What is the maximum depth on NMEA 0183?
On the NMEA 0183 version the DST800 reads depths up to 70 m (230 ft), with a minimum depth range of 0.5 m (1.6 ft).
Which NMEA 0183 sentences does it output?
It outputs depth (DBT/DPT), speed through water (VHW), distance log (VLW) and water temperature (MTW) NMEA 0183 sentences.
What hull deadrise does it suit?
The low-profile plastic thru-hull housing fits hull deadrise up to 22 degrees, and the wide 10 x 44 degree beam helps hold bottom lock on steeper deadrise hulls and heeling sailboats.
What cable is supplied?
The NMEA 0183 DST800 is supplied with a 10 m (33 ft) power/data cable and operates on a 10 to 25 VDC supply.
