Description

The Garmin Airmar ST850 is a low-profile plastic thru-hull sensor that collects vessel speed and water temperature for display on compatible Garmin sounders. A paddlewheel measures speed through water while the fast-response temperature sensor reports water temperature, both fed through a single 8-pin analog connection.

It reads speed from 2 to 45 knots with smooth, linear output and a temperature accuracy of +/- 0.5 C. The low-profile housing is nearly flush, extending just 5 mm (3/16 in) outside the hull to minimise drag, and an integrated self-closing valve minimises water flow into the bilge when the insert is removed to clean the paddlewheel. It fits any deadrise or transom angle up to 22 degrees and is supplied with a 9 m (30 ft) analog cable.

What does the ST850 8-pin measure?
It measures vessel speed using a paddlewheel and water temperature with a fast-response sensor, feeding both to compatible Garmin sounders through an 8-pin analog connection.
What is the speed range?
The ST850 reads speed from 2 to 45 knots with smooth, linear output.
Will it fit my hull?
The low-profile plastic thru-hull housing fits any deadrise or transom angle up to 22 degrees and is nearly flush, extending only 5 mm (3/16 in) outside the hull.
How do I clean the paddlewheel?
The retractable insert can be removed for cleaning, and the housing has a self-closing valve that minimises water flow into the bilge while the insert is out.
