Description

The Garmin GHP SmartPump is a self-contained electro-hydraulic pump that drives the steering cylinder of a hydraulically steered boat under the command of a Garmin GHP or Reactor autopilot. It combines the pump, motor and electronic control unit in a single unit, so a separate ECU is not required, and its built-in Shadow Drive valve lets the autopilot detect manual steering and stand by automatically.

Connecting to the course computer over a single CCU cable, the SmartPump uses colour-coded connectors to make installation straightforward. It must be mounted in a dry location on a vented hydraulic steering system, and a marine corrosion inhibitor should be applied periodically to extend its working life.
