Description
This Garmin marine heading sensor is an Airmar H2183 that provides accurate vessel heading to a compatible Garmin chartplotter. Feeding live heading to the system keeps the chart, radar overlay and MARPA targets correctly oriented while manoeuvring or holding station, which is particularly valuable at slow speeds when GPS course over ground is unreliable.
The sensor outputs over both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000, so it can be integrated into either type of marine network. A NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 connection cable is required and is sold separately. Mount the sensor away from sources of magnetic interference and calibrate it through the connected display for best accuracy.
