Description
The Garmin Class B Hydraulic Linear Drive Unit is a self-contained hydraulic drive that steers the rudder of a sailboat under the command of a compatible Garmin autopilot. The ram, pump and reservoir are filled and tested at the factory, so no hydraulic lines need to be opened during installation. A solenoid clutch extends and retracts the rod to drive the tiller arm or quadrant.
The supplied rudder feedback sensor reports rudder position to the autopilot for precise steering, and serviceable motor brushes help ensure a long working life. The drive must be mounted under deck and limited by physical rudder end stops to prevent overtravel.
