Description

The Garmin R109LHW is a high-power CHIRP thru-hull transducer that combines a 38 to 75 kHz low band with a 150 to 250 kHz high wide band, giving 137 kHz of total bandwidth from one 16-element broadband ceramic array. Where most CHIRP transducers narrow their beam as frequency rises, the wide high band holds a fixed 25 degree beam across the whole range, putting far more coverage beneath the boat and revealing more fish in the water column. With 2 kW of transmit power the low band sounds to 6,000 ft while the wide high band gives broad, detailed returns to 500 ft. The urethane housing installs as an external thru-hull with a High-Performance Fairing and suits fibreglass, wood or metal hulls up to 22 degrees deadrise on vessels of 12 m and above. An integral depth and fast-response temperature sensor is included. The transducer terminates in bare wires and requires the Garmin GSD 26 CHIRP sonar module, which connects to networked GPSMAP chartplotters.
