Description

The Garmin GPS 19x HVS is a high-sensitivity GPS antenna that supplies position data over NMEA 0183 to a Garmin chartplotter or any other NMEA 0183 compliant device. Its WAAS-enabled receiver tracks GPS and GLONASS satellites simultaneously, often using more than twenty at once, and with WAAS, EGNOS or MSAS corrections it fixes your position to within 3 metres. A fast 10 Hz update rate keeps track plots and velocity readings smooth and detailed.

A single antenna can feed up to three NMEA 0183 devices, and the output rate can be limited to 1 Hz with the included resistor cable for use with older displays. Housed in a fully gasketed plastic-alloy case rated to IPX7, the GPS 19x HVS mounts on a surface, a pole or under a fibreglass deck, and runs on 8 to 33 Vdc while drawing just 40 mA.

Does this version use NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000?
This is the HVS model with a NMEA 0183 output. It connects to a Garmin chartplotter or any NMEA 0183 compliant device, and one antenna can feed up to three devices. A separate NMEA 2000 version of the GPS 19x is also available.
Which satellite systems does it use?
It is a WAAS-enabled receiver that tracks GPS and GLONASS satellites at the same time, frequently using more than twenty satellites for reliable positioning.
How accurate is it?
Using WAAS, EGNOS or MSAS corrections it provides position accuracy to within 3 metres (95% typical), and around 15 metres on standard GPS without augmentation.
What is the position update rate?
By default the antenna outputs position data ten times per second (10 Hz) at 38400 baud. It can be limited to once per second (1 Hz) at 4800 baud by fitting the included resistor cable for use with older displays.
How can it be mounted?
You can mount it on a flat surface, on a standard 1 in. OD pole, or under a fibreglass deck using the supplied brackets. It should have a clear view of the sky and be kept away from radar, VHF antennas and sources of interference.
Is the GPS 19x HVS waterproof?
Yes. The fully gasketed plastic-alloy housing is rated to IEC 60529 IPX7, withstanding incidental immersion in up to 1 m of water for 30 minutes.
