The B&G H5000 Analog Expansion Module interfaces analogue and pulse sensors to the H5000 system. It provides 6 analogue inputs and 2 pulse inputs, acting as the interface for masthead units, speed sensors, analogue rate-gyros, potentiometers and similar devices. It is powered from the network and can supply power to the connected sensors. An H5000 CPU is required.

Description

The B&G H5000 Analog Expansion Module allows expansion of an H5000 system to include analogue and pulse signals from compatible third-party and B&G sensors. The module acts as the interface between analogue sensors and the H5000 CPU.

It provides 6 analogue inputs and 2 pulse inputs, allowing it to interface masthead units, speed (paddle wheel) sensors, analogue rate-gyros, potentiometers and similar devices. All modules are powered from the network and can supply power to the connected sensors, and the function of each port is configured via the webserver interface. Modules can be located wherever is most convenient and connect anywhere on the network.

What does the Analog Expansion Module do?
It is the interface between analogue and pulse sensors and the H5000 CPU. It provides 6 analogue inputs and 2 pulse inputs, allowing the system to read masthead units, speed (paddle wheel) sensors, analogue rate-gyros, potentiometers and similar devices.
When do I need an Analog Expansion Module?
You need it when you want to connect analogue or pulse sensors that are not natively NMEA 2000, such as an analogue masthead unit or a paddle-wheel speed sensor, to your H5000 system.
How is the module powered and configured?
The module is powered from the network and can supply power to the connected sensors. The function of each port is set up via the H5000 webserver interface, and the module can be located anywhere on the network.
Is there a current limit on the connected sensors?
If a sensor or combination of sensors connected to the module draws more than 300 mA total, a terminal link must be fitted to both internal jumpers to bypass the isolated power supply. Only do this when necessary; full details are in the installation manual.
Do I need an H5000 CPU to use it?
Yes. The Analog Expansion Module connects to the H5000 network and works with an H5000 CPU, which processes the sensor data it interfaces.
