Description

The AIS4000 is Raymarine's Class A Automatic Identification System transponder for commercial vessels and workboats that need to satisfy Class A carriage requirements. Class A AIS transmits more often and at higher power than Class B, giving priority visibility on the AIS network for safe operation in busy commercial waters.

The AIS4000 transmits at 1 W or 12.5 W automatically and uses three receivers for robust reception. A supplied 72-channel GPS/GLONASS receiver provides precise position and timing, while a 5 inch 800 x 480 full colour LCD with rotary encoder and dedicated keys gives a clear interface. A microSD slot supports software updates and charts, and a resistor pack and SeaTalkng DeviceNet cable are supplied for integration.

Built to IEC 60945 'Protected' category with IPx6 and IPx7 waterproofing and conforming to the IEC 61162 and IEC 61108 standards, the AIS4000 is engineered for demanding professional installations.

What is the difference between the AIS4000 and a Class B unit?
The AIS4000 is a Class A transponder. It transmits more frequently and at higher power (up to 12.5 W) than Class B units such as the AIS700, and is intended for commercial vessels that must meet Class A carriage requirements. Class A reports take priority on the AIS network.
Does the AIS4000 include a GPS antenna?
Yes. A GNSS antenna cable assembly is supplied and the AIS4000 uses a 72-channel GPS/GLONASS receiver for the precise position and timing Class A AIS requires.
Does the AIS4000 need its own VHF antenna?
Yes. As a Class A transponder transmitting up to 12.5 W, the AIS4000 requires a dedicated VHF antenna rated for the task.
What is the difference between the AIS4000 and the AIS5000?
Both are Raymarine Class A transponders sharing the same core VHF and GNSS specification. The AIS5000 is the First Response variant configured for search-and-rescue and first-responder vessels, whereas the AIS4000 is the standard commercial Class A unit.
Is the AIS4000 suitable for commercial use?
Yes. The AIS4000 is built to IEC 60945 Protected category with IPx6 and IPx7 waterproofing and conforms to the IEC 61162 and IEC 61108 standards, making it suitable for commercial and professional installations.
