The Raymarine AIS700 is a Class B SOTDMA AIS transceiver that both receives and transmits vessel position data, so you see other traffic and they see you. A built-in VHF antenna splitter lets the AIS700 share a single masthead VHF antenna with your fixed VHF radio, saving an extra antenna and cable run. It connects to Raymarine multifunction displays over NMEA 2000/SeaTalkng or NMEA 0183.

Description

The AIS700 is Raymarine's Class B Automatic Identification System (AIS) transceiver for cruising yachts and motorboats that want to be seen as well as to see. Using 5 W SOTDMA technology it transmits your vessel name, position, course and speed to surrounding ships and shore stations, while its two independent receivers continuously monitor both AIS channels for nearby traffic.

The defining feature is the built-in VHF antenna splitter. Rather than fitting a dedicated AIS antenna, the AIS700 shares your existing masthead VHF antenna with a fixed VHF radio, reducing clutter at the masthead and simplifying installation. A supplied 72-channel GPS/GLONASS receiver provides the precise position and timing AIS requires.

The AIS700 integrates with Raymarine Axiom and Axiom 2 multifunction displays through NMEA 2000 / SeaTalkng or NMEA 0183, overlaying AIS targets directly on the chart. A silent mode input lets you suspend transmission when required.

Does the AIS700 need its own VHF antenna?
No. The AIS700 has a built-in VHF antenna splitter so it can share a single masthead VHF antenna with a fixed VHF radio. This removes the need for a separate dedicated AIS antenna and an extra cable run.
Is the AIS700 a receiver or a transceiver?
It is a Class B transceiver. As well as receiving the positions of other AIS-equipped vessels, it transmits your own vessel's name, position, course and speed at 5 W using SOTDMA so that other ships and shore stations can see you.
Does the AIS700 include a GPS antenna?
Yes. A 72-channel GPS/GLONASS antenna with a fitted 10 m cable is supplied in the box. AIS requires an accurate position and timing source, and this antenna provides it.
How does the AIS700 connect to my Raymarine display?
The AIS700 connects to Raymarine multifunction displays over NMEA 2000 / SeaTalkng using the supplied DeviceNet to SeaTalkng adaptor cable, or over NMEA 0183. AIS targets are then overlaid on the chart.
Can I stop the AIS700 from transmitting?
Yes. The AIS700 has a silent mode input that lets you suspend transmission of your own position while continuing to receive other vessels, for example when you do not wish to be tracked.
