Description

The Garmin GT12M-THF brings mid-band CHIRP traditional sonar to fibreglass, wood and composite-hulled boats in a clean flush thru-hull fitting. Operating across 85 to 165 kHz at 350 W, it produces strong target separation and clear bottom detail at depths to 365 m (1,200 ft) in freshwater and 245 m (800 ft) in saltwater. This 0 degree version has the correcting angle built into the bronze housing, so it flush-mounts on hulls with 0 to 5 degrees of deadrise without cutting a separate fairing block. A 15 m (50 ft) cable terminates in an 8-pin connector that plugs straight into a compatible Garmin chartplotter, fishfinder or sonar black box, with Garmin auto-detection configuring the sonar for you. A built-in water-temperature reading is supported on compatible displays. As a brass-bodied transducer it must not be fitted to aluminium or steel hulls.

Which hull types can the GT12M-THF be fitted to?
It has a bronze (brass) housing suitable for fibreglass, wood and composite hulls. It must not be installed in an aluminium or steel hull, as the brass would cause galvanic corrosion and could allow water entry around the transducer.
Do I need a fairing block with this transducer?
No. The deadrise correction is built into the housing. Choose the variant that matches your hull: the 0 degree version suits 0 to 5 degrees of deadrise, the 12 degree version suits 6 to 16 degrees, and the 20 degree version suits 17 to 24 degrees. You simply point the arrow on the top to the keel so the internal angle aligns with the hull.
What sonar does the GT12M-THF provide?
It is a mid-band CHIRP traditional transducer covering 85 to 165 kHz at 350 W. It produces the traditional fish-arch and bottom view and supports a water-temperature reading on compatible displays. It does not provide ClearVu or SideVu scanning sonar.
How deep will it read?
Maximum depth is 365 m (1,200 ft) in freshwater and 245 m (800 ft) in saltwater, depending on water conditions, bottom type and the connected display.
