Description
The Vesper WatchMate XB-8000 is a low profile black box Class B smartAIS transponder that packs a built in WiFi router, a fully certified NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 gateway, waterproof USB and a 50 channel GPS receiver into a single waterproof enclosure. It transmits your vessel's position and receives Class A and Class B AIS data from surrounding traffic, feeding it to your existing plotter, MFD or navigation software.
The integrated WiFi allows AIS and GPS data to be viewed wirelessly on up to five devices at once, so a laptop, phone and tablet can all display live traffic from anywhere on board. A free companion app provides configuration, status monitoring and remote control of Silent Mode, while smartAIS safety features add anchor watch and man overboard alarms. The included external GPS antenna ships with a 10 m cable.
Multi processor architecture with dedicated AIS processors ensures fast, reliable data acquisition, and galvanically isolated ports protect the transponder and connected equipment. This model is discontinued following Garmin's acquisition of Vesper Marine.
