Description

The Simrad AP70 MK2 sits at the heart of a flexible professional autopilot system for a wide range of working vessels, from fast SAR craft and fishing boats up to larger commercial vessels. This basic pack pairs the AP70 MK2 control unit with an AC70 autopilot computer and an RF300 rudder feedback, configured to drive reversible hydraulic pumps or non-isolated solenoid valves on power boats from 30 ft up.

The control unit features a large, heavy-duty rotary dial and an optically bonded 5-inch (127 mm) colour display readable from any direction. Built on Simrad Continuum steering, the system supports Standby, Follow-Up, Non-Follow-Up, Auto, NoDrift and Nav modes, and can control up to six rudders and thrusters with configurable work and low/high speed modes. Command transfer and multiple control stations let larger vessels be steered from several positions.

The AC70 board provides a non-SOLAS computer for direct drive of reversible pumps or non-isolated solenoids, a common workboat choice, while the system meets IMO and ISO steering performance standards. The control unit carries an exposed IPx6 rating in a seawater-resistant aluminium housing.

What is included in the AP70 MK2 Basic Pack?
The pack contains the AP70 MK2 autopilot control unit, an AC70 autopilot computer and an RF300 rudder feedback unit, configured for reversible hydraulic pumps or non-isolated solenoid valves.
What size vessel is the AP70 MK2 for?
The AP70 MK2 is a professional autopilot system for power vessels (displacement, outboard and planing) from 30 ft and up, including workboats and commercial craft.
How many drives can the AP70 MK2 control?
The AP70 MK2 system can control up to six rudders and thrusters, with separately configurable work and low/high speed modes.
What display does the AP70 MK2 control unit have?
It has a 127 mm (5-inch) optically bonded 16-bit colour TFT display with a 480 x 480 resolution, readable from any direction, plus a large heavy-duty rotary control dial. The control unit is rated to IPx6.
What supply voltage does the system use?
The AP70 MK2 system runs on 12/24 V DC (+30 / -10%). The control unit draws 0.7/0.4 A at 12 V DC (backlight full/off), and the AC70 computer draws 100/65 mA at 12/24 V DC plus the connected drive load.
Is the AP70 MK2 Basic Pack SOLAS approved?
The AP70 MK2 system meets IMO and ISO steering performance standards, but the AC70 board supplied in this basic pack is a non-SOLAS computer for direct drive of reversible pumps or non-isolated solenoids, a common choice for workboats.
