Description

The Garmin CM599LHW is the wide-beam member of the high-power CM599 pocket-mount family. It fits flush within a custom pocket cut into the hull or keel, giving the benefits of a thru-hull without a High-Performance Fairing and with less drag. The 25-element broadband array pairs a 28 to 60 kHz low band with a 150 to 250 kHz high wide band, for 132 kHz of total bandwidth from one transducer. Where most CHIRP transducers narrow their beam as frequency rises, the wide high band holds a fixed 25 degree beam across the whole range, putting far more coverage beneath the boat. With 2 to 3 kW of dual-range transmit power the low band sounds to 10,000 ft while the wide high band gives broad, detailed returns to 500 ft. Because the pocket sets the mounting angle, the CM599LHW can accommodate any hull deadrise and suits fibreglass or metal hulls with any propulsion type. An integral depth and fast-response temperature sensor is built in. The transducer terminates in bare wires and requires the Garmin GSD 26 CHIRP sonar module, which connects to networked GPSMAP chartplotters.
