Description

B&G HALO 24 Inch Pulse Compression Dome Radar (20M)

HALO24 radar offers an almost real-time view, with industry-first 60 RPM operation at close range for the ultimate in collision avoidance. Identify hazards in an instant with VelocityTrack™ Doppler technology, and enjoy simultaneous short and long-range coverage—up to 48 nautical miles—from one compact 24-inch dome antenna

Unique Selling Points

The Ultimate View for Collision Avoidance:

HALO24 radar introduces industry-first 60 RPM rotation at ranges up to 2 nautical miles, delivering a full 360-degree sweep every single second. These ultra-fast updates give you an almost real-time view at close range, offering the ultimate view for collision avoidance. Whether you’re navigating through crowded waterways or contending with poor visibility, Halo radar cuts through the clutter to give you a clear and current picture of your surroundings

VelocityTrack™ Doppler Technology Built-In

VelocityTrack™ technology provides instant visual feedback on whether targets are coming towards you or moving away. Using the Doppler effect, this feature automatically checks every target seen by your radar; there’s no need to manually select individual targets, and no limit to the number of targets on screen at one time. Simple colour coding highlights potential hazards, improving your situational awareness and further reducing your risk of collision.

Which displays is the Halo24 compatible with?
The Halo24 connects over Ethernet to compatible B&G, Simrad and Lowrance multifunction displays such as Zeus and Vulcan. Some older displays may not support Halo dome radars, so check your display software is up to date. The radar does not need NMEA 2000 or heading data for MARPA or VelocityTrack to work.
What is in the box and is a cable included?
The Halo24 comes with the radar dome, mounting bolts and washers, the interconnection cable (5 m Lowrance, 10 m Simrad, 20 m B&G), an Ethernet adapter, a waterproof cable boot, a cable retainer kit and the documentation pack. Longer interconnection cables up to 30 m are available as an option.
How high should the radar be mounted?
Mount the dome high above the keel line with a clear all-round view, but not so high that the close-range picture is degraded. The vertical beam extends 22 degrees above and below horizontal, so on boats with a hard top the dome should be raised on a pedestal so the beam clears the roof line. Keep it at least 0.7 m from a compass.
What is Dual Range and how many targets can it track?
Dual Range lets you view two ranges at once, for example watching distant weather while keeping an eye on close hazards. The Halo24 supports MARPA target tracking of up to 10 targets, or 20 targets in Dual Range mode.
Is the Halo24 safe to be near while transmitting?
Yes. As a solid-state pulse compression radar it transmits very low power. The independently measured RF safe distance is just 0.1 m, so it is safe to mount on smaller vessels where people may be close to the dome.
