What is the difference between the Vulcan R and FS models?
The R models such as this Vulcan 7R are radar-ready chartplotters with a dedicated Ethernet radar port, so they can drive a B&G Broadband or HALO radar dome. The FS models focus on a built-in fishfinder and ForwardScan support. The 7R also has a built-in CHIRP and DownScan echosounder, so you get both radar capability and sonar.
Does the Vulcan 7R include a radar dome or transducer?
The base Vulcan 7R is supplied as a display only, with radar and sonar added separately. Choose the radar bundle version if you want a Broadband 3G dome included. The sonar uses a single 9-pin XSonic connector, so you add a CHIRP, DownScan or ForwardScan transducer to suit your boat.
What radar can I connect to the Vulcan 7R?
The Vulcan 7R connects to B&G Broadband 3G and 4G radar domes as well as HALO pulse compression radar over its dedicated Ethernet radar port. Radar overlay can be shown directly on the chart for clear collision avoidance.
Which charts does the Vulcan 7R support?
The Vulcan 7R supports C-MAP MAX-N and MAX-N+, Navionics Gold, Platinum+ and Navionics+, Insight and Insight Genesis, plus selected third-party charts. Charts load via the microSD card slot.
Does the Vulcan 7R have Wi-Fi and NMEA 2000?
Yes. Built-in Wi-Fi supports GoFree, wireless software updates and viewing or controlling the display from a phone or tablet. A single NMEA 2000 port integrates B&G sailing instruments, sensors, AIS, a DSC VHF and a compatible autopilot.
