The Garmin GT8HW-IH is an in-hull high-wide CHIRP transducer ideal for high-speed boats and anglers who prefer to mount the transducer inside the hull rather than on the transom. Its wide 145 to 230 kHz beam gives large, clear fish arches over a broad coverage area.

Description

The Garmin GT8HW-IH delivers high-wide CHIRP traditional sonar from inside the hull, making it well suited to bass boats and other fast craft where a transom-mounted transducer could suffer from cavitation. Mounting inside the hull also keeps the hull free of through-holes.

The high-band 145 to 230 kHz frequency range, paired with a wide 24/16 degree beam, produces large, crisp fish arches and clear definition across a broad area of water. With 250 W of power it reads to 244 m (800 ft.) in freshwater and suits hulls with a deadrise angle of 0 to 5 degrees. It connects to compatible Garmin chartplotters through an 8-pin connector.

Why choose the in-hull GT8HW-IH?
It mounts inside the hull, which suits high-speed boats where a transom-mounted transducer can suffer from cavitation, and it avoids drilling holes through the hull. It is popular on bass boats.
What sonar does the GT8HW-IH provide?
It provides high-wide CHIRP traditional sonar across 145 to 230 kHz with a wide beam, giving large, clear fish arches over a broad coverage area. It does not include scanning sonar.
How deep can the GT8HW-IH read?
It reads to a maximum of 244 m (800 ft.) in freshwater, depending on water conditions and the chartplotter or fishfinder model.
What hull is the GT8HW-IH suitable for?
It is designed for in-hull installation on hulls with a deadrise angle of 0 to 5 degrees, mounting inside the hull rather than on the transom.
What connector does the GT8HW-IH use?
It uses an 8-pin Garmin transducer connector with a 6 m (20 ft.) cable. Some chartplotters require a Garmin adapter cable, sold separately.
