Description

The Garmin GPS 24xd is a high-sensitivity receiver and antenna that delivers precise position and heading information to a compatible chartplotter over the NMEA 2000 network. This is the black model, finished to suit darker installations. Its multi-band GNSS receiver draws on GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou to fix your position to within 1 metre, while a fast 10 Hz update rate keeps track plots and velocity readings smooth and detailed.

An integrated magnetic heading sensor adds heading accuracy to within 3 degrees, stabilising charts, radar overlay and MARPA even at slow speed. Connection is plug-and-play using the supplied NMEA 2000 T-connector and 6 m drop cable, and the antenna presents a low load of just LEN 3. The fully gasketed plastic-alloy housing is rated to IPX6 and IPX7, mounts on a surface or a pole, and runs on 9 to 32 Vdc.

How does the GPS 24xd black model differ from the white model?
It is the same NMEA 2000 receiver and antenna in a black housing. The black model has an operating temperature range of -30 to 65C, and the under-deck mounting kit is supplied with white models only.
Which satellite systems does it use?
It uses a multi-band GNSS receiver covering GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou to fix your position to within 1 metre, with a fast 10 Hz update rate.
Does it provide heading data?
Yes. An integrated magnetic heading sensor provides heading accuracy to within 3 degrees, which stabilises charts, radar overlay and MARPA at slow speeds. After installation you calibrate the compass and complete the auto heading alignment.
How does it connect?
It connects to your existing NMEA 2000 network using the supplied T-connector and 6 m drop cable, presenting a low load of LEN 3. If your boat does not already have a NMEA 2000 network you will need to install one.
How can it be mounted?
The black model can be surface-mounted or pole-mounted on a standard 1 in. OD pole. Choose a location with a clear view of the sky, away from radar, VHF antennas and magnetic interference.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. The fully gasketed plastic-alloy housing is rated to IEC 60529 IPX6 and IPX7, withstanding powerful water jets and incidental immersion in up to 1 m of water for 30 minutes.
