Description

The Garmin GSI 10 Marine Sensor Gateway is a Garmin Sensor Interface (GSI) device built for system integrators who need programmatic access to Garmin marine radar. Rather than driving a chartplotter display, the GSI 10 hosts an HTTP-based API over a standard Ethernet network, presenting radar information as JSON so it can be consumed by custom software and autonomous or unmanned surface vessel (USV) platforms. Through the API a host system can discover connected radar devices, read and change their configuration and status, and receive streamed radar spoke data, with a simulator mode available for development without live hardware. The gateway advertises itself on the network for easy discovery and works with Garmin radar scanners including the Fantom and GMR xHD series. It is an integration component aimed at developers and OEMs rather than a standard plug-and-play helm accessory.

What is the GSI 10 used for?
The GSI 10 is a Garmin Sensor Interface that hosts an HTTP-based API to interact with Garmin marine radar. It is designed for integrating radar data and control into custom and autonomous, or unmanned surface vessel (USV), systems.
Which radar does the GSI 10 work with?
It works with Garmin radar scanners including the Fantom and GMR xHD series, exposing them through its network API.
How does a system communicate with the GSI 10?
Communication is over a standard Ethernet/IP network using HTTP with JSON-encoded data. The device advertises itself on the network so it can be discovered, and provides endpoints to read radar configuration and status and to stream radar spoke data.
Is the GSI 10 a plug-and-play helm accessory?
No. It is an integration component aimed at developers and OEMs building custom or autonomous systems, rather than a standard chartplotter accessory. Full API documentation is hosted on the device itself.
