Description
The Oceanic Systems 3410 DC Monitor measures DC voltage and current and reports them across the NMEA2000 network, then calculates state of charge as a percentage and the remaining time at the present rate of discharge. It suits batteries, alternators, solar panels and wind generators, and can also monitor the load drawn by inverters, refrigeration and similar DC equipment. Battery condition is tracked using charge efficiency and the Peukert exponent for a realistic capacity estimate, and readings are retained even when the network is powered down.
Current is sensed either by a clamp-on DC current transformer, which needs no break in the conductor, or by a 500 Amp or 1200 Amp shunt for larger installations. Field connections use boat-builder WAGO cage clamp terminals for solid or stranded wire from 0.08 to 2.5 mm2, and the unit can be panel or DIN rail mounted.

How is the current measured?
Either by a clamp-on DC current transformer around the conductor, which needs no break in the wiring, or by a 500 Amp or 1200 Amp shunt for larger installations.
Does it keep counting when the network is switched off?
Yes. The 3410 retains the battery condition and total current draw while the NMEA2000 network is powered down, so the values are correct when it powers back up.
Can it be DIN rail mounted?
Yes. The unit can be panel mounted or fitted to a DIN rail using the optional mounting clips.
