Description

The Oceanic Systems 3271-SAM2 Sender Averaging Module solves the problem of inaccurate tank gauge readings on long tanks, where the contents move aft when the boat is bows-up under power. It reads two tank senders mounted in the tank, calculates a mathematical average and outputs the result as a standard Tank Level PGN 127505, so every connected display shows the averaged level. Installation is deliberately simple, with no user setup, no calibration and no display menus; the installer just sets the device instance switch on the front to the required tank instance. The module also signals if either sender is missing or has detected water in the tank, so the quality of the reading can be trusted. It is certified to the NMEA2000 standard, fully waterproof to IP67 and ruggedly constructed in ABS with an aluminium frame for reliable service.

When is a sender averaging module needed?
On long tanks, where the contents move to the aft end when the boat is bows-up under power. The 3271-SAM2 averages two senders so the displayed level stays accurate.
Does it need setting up?
No calibration or display menus are needed. The installer just sets the device instance switch on the front to the required tank instance.
Can it tell if a sender has failed?
Yes. It signals if either sender is missing or has detected water in the tank, so the reading can be trusted.
