Description

The Photonic Universe 320W is a large-format, fully flexible solar panel built on CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) thin-film cells instead of rigid crystalline wafers. At only 2 mm thick, finished in full black and supplied with a peel-and-stick self-adhesive backing, it bonds directly to hard tops, wheelhouse roofs and other large flat or gently curved surfaces without frames, brackets or drilling, and it can be walked on during maintenance without cracking. Made in Sweden and TUV Rheinland certified, the panel places a bypass diode across every cell, so shade from rigging or superstructure only affects the cells in shadow rather than collapsing the whole panel's output. This 320W model produces 49.9 V at 6.6 A, with an open-circuit voltage of 60.9 V. It works with a standard MPPT charge controller such as a Victron SmartSolar; being a thin-film panel, panels are often wired in series to suit the controller's input range. A weatherproof IP68 junction box, a -40 to +85 °C rating, a 10-year product warranty and a 25-year performance guarantee make it well suited to permanent installation afloat.

Will this panel bend to fit a curved coachroof or bimini?
Yes. It uses flexible CIGS thin-film cells on a 2 mm laminate, so it follows curved surfaces down to a 0.25 m bend radius and fixes with its own peel-and-stick self-adhesive backing, with no frames, brackets or drilling. It is also walkable, so you can move across it during maintenance.
What charge controller does the 320W panel need?
It works with a standard MPPT charge controller such as a Victron SmartSolar. This model has an open-circuit voltage of 60.9 V and delivers 49.9 V at 6.6 A; as a lower-voltage thin-film panel, two or more are often wired in series so the array sits within the controller's input window.
How durable and weatherproof is it for use afloat?
The CIGS cells sit on a 15-micron stainless-steel substrate sealed under protective films, with an IP68 junction box for the connection. It is shatterproof, crack-resistant and rated from -40 to +85 °C, and it is backed by a 10-year product warranty and a 25-year performance guarantee (90% output at 10 years, 80% at 25 years).
