Description
The Raymarine Type 2 rotary drive is an electrically driven autopilot drive for power and sailboat steering systems that can be driven from the helm position through a chain and sprocket, typically cable and rod-steering systems. The rotary drive's sprocket engages the boat's steering chain to keep the boat on course, and an electro-mechanical clutch disengages it for easy hand-steering when in standby.
The design provides smooth, powerful autopilot steering with quiet operation. This Type 2 model suits vessels up to 20,000kg (44,000 lbs) displacement on 12-volt DC power. Optional drive sprockets and modifications to the boat's steering chain may be required, so Raymarine recommends consulting an authorised dealer when planning a rotary drive installation.
The rotary drive forms the muscle of an Evolution autopilot and requires the ACU-400 actuator control unit.
