Description

The Raymarine RNS-5 (A80731) is a 5-port Gigabit RayNet network switch designed for expanding integrated Raymarine chartplotter systems. It provides five waterproof RayNet Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbits/s), letting Axiom 2 Pro and Axiom 2 XL displays connect simultaneously with radar, RVX1000 or RVM1600 sonar modules, IP cameras and Teledyne FLIR thermal cameras. The RNS-5 also supports networking with Raymarine YachtSense digital control systems and the YachtSense Link marine mobile router. Two RNS-5 switches can be daisy-chained for larger installations.

The RNS-5 is rated IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof and operates from 10.8 V to 31.2 V dc, making it suitable for both 12 V and 24 V systems. It is unmanaged for simple plug-and-play operation, with LED power and port status indicators and a bulkhead mounting design.

Can I daisy-chain two RNS-5 switches for a larger network?
Yes. Two RNS-5 switches can be connected together using a standard RayNet cable, allowing up to 10 devices to be networked. This is the recommended approach for larger multi-display systems. For more complex networks, consider the RNS-8 which offers 8 ports including 4 PoE ports.
Does the RNS-5 require any software configuration?
No. The RNS-5 is an unmanaged switch and is completely plug and play. No IP addressing, VLAN setup or any other network configuration is required. Simply connect power and RayNet cables.
What is the difference between the RNS-5 and the RNS-8?
The RNS-5 has 5 Gigabit RayNet ports with no PoE capability. The RNS-8 has 8 Gigabit RayNet ports, with 4 of those ports supporting Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) for powering devices like the CAM300 IP camera and RMK-10 remote keypad without a separate power supply.
