Description
The Balmar TSP-24 is a transient spike and ground protector for 24 volt charging systems, built to shield an alternator and regulator from damaging voltage spikes. It mounts directly to the alternator between the positive and negative connections, and uses fused diodes that are designed to fail before the alternator diodes are damaged, giving a safe path to ground should an AC or DC spike hit the charging system. A common cause of alternator failure is switching the ignition or battery switch off while the alternator is still running; the TSP sacrifices itself to protect the more expensive alternator and regulator.
