Description

The Victron Lithium Battery Smart 25,6V 100Ah is a 24 V Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) cell for marine house banks built around a 24 V system. Using a 25,6 V battery rather than two 12 V units in series reduces the periodic balancing time a series string needs, which Victron recommends for 24 V installations. An LFP battery does not need to be returned to full charge after each cycle and tolerates being left partially charged, unlike a lead-acid bank which would sulfate during deficit running.

Integrated Bluetooth reports cell voltages, temperature and alarm status to the VictronConnect app, so cell imbalance or a developing fault can be identified early. The battery stores 2560 Wh and delivers up to 200 A continuous, with low internal resistance and 92% round-trip efficiency that reduce charging losses compared with lead-acid.

It has integrated cell balancing and monitoring but is not a drop-in battery: it requires an external Battery Management System (for example a VE.Bus BMS, smallBMS or Lynx Smart BMS) for low-voltage, high-voltage and temperature protection. Cells can be wired in series, parallel or series/parallel to build 24 V or 48 V banks.

Does this battery need a separate Battery Management System?
Yes. The Lithium Battery Smart has integrated cell balancing and monitoring, but it must be connected to an external Victron BMS (such as a VE.Bus BMS, smallBMS or Lynx Smart BMS), which disconnects the load on low cell voltage, stops charging on high cell voltage, and protects against out-of-range temperatures.
What does the Bluetooth do?
Bluetooth lets you monitor individual cell voltages, temperature and alarm status in the VictronConnect app. The app can show key data on the device list without connecting to the battery, which helps localise issues such as cell imbalance.
Why choose a 25,6 V battery over two 12 V batteries in series?
Victron states that 24 V systems are best built using 24 V batteries, as this reduces the periodic balancing time required. Four 12 V batteries in series will work but need more frequent balancing.
What is the recommended charge voltage?
Victron recommends 28,4 V (within an allowable range of 28 V to 28,8 V), with a float voltage of 27 V. The recommended charge current for this 100 Ah battery is 50 A or less, up to a maximum of 200 A.
How is it connected into the system?
Power connections use M8 threaded inserts. The BMS connection is made with a male and female cable fitted with an M8 circular connector, 50 cm long.
