Description
The Airmar B285M is a bronze thru-hull, single-band medium-CHIRP transducer that operates across 85 to 135 kHz, giving 50 kHz of usable bandwidth from one fitting. Medium frequencies strike a balance between the deep reach of low-frequency sounders and the fine detail of high-frequency units, revealing fish with clear target separation at depths of up to around 1,500 metres.
Its medium beam narrows from 16 to 11 degrees across the band, concentrating energy for strong, well-defined returns. Rated at 1 kW, the transducer also carries a fast-response water-temperature sensor, and its bronze housing shares the same footprint as the established B260 for straightforward fitting.
A high-performance fairing is supplied to improve broadband performance at speeds over 30 knots, making the B285M a capable offshore choice for fibreglass and timber hulls. The xSonic connector links directly to compatible Simrad, Lowrance and B&G sounder modules.
