Description

The Garmin B164 steps your Garmin sonar system up to a full 1 kW of transmit power without the need for a fairing block. Its flush-mounted bronze housing protrudes less than a quarter of an inch outside the hull and can sit on trailer rollers or bunks without damage, while the tilted element inside keeps the sound beam aimed vertically. Operating on traditional 50 kHz and 200 kHz frequencies, it pairs high power with reliable depth and water-temperature readings for confident deep-water performance.

This 12° tilt model is matched to hull deadrise angles of 8-15° and is an excellent choice for fibreglass and wood hulls. It connects to compatible Garmin sonar modules such as the GSD 24 and GSD 26 and is supplied with full installation instructions, which should be followed carefully to avoid damaging your boat.

What sonar frequency does the Garmin B164 use?
The B164 operates at 50/200 kHz (dual frequency (hd-id)) with a transmit power of 1 kW (RMS).
How deep can the Garmin B164 read?
The B164 has a maximum depth of 1200-1800 ft (366-549 m) under good conditions; actual depth depends on water conditions, bottom type and the sonar module used.
Which hull deadrise does this 12 degree-tilt B164 suit?
This version has a 12 degree tilted element matched to hull deadrise angles of 8-15°, so the beam fires vertically without a fairing block.
What connector does the Garmin B164 have?
The B164 uses a 6-pin Garmin connector on a 39 ft (11.9 m) cable. Adapter cables are available to suit other Garmin sounder connector types.
Which Garmin sounders work with the B164?
The B164 is compatible with Garmin GSD 24 and GSD 26 sonar modules and with GPSMAP xs/xsv combos that support a 50/200 kHz thru-hull transducer; an adapter cable may be required.
Does the Garmin B164 measure water temperature?
Yes, the B164 has a built-in water-temperature sensor in addition to depth.
