Description
The R99 is the most powerful thru-hull transducer designed for the Garmin GSD 24 advanced sounder module. This 2 kW plastic housing operates at both 50 kHz and 200 kHz and reaches depths of 2,500 to 4,000 ft, making it suited to serious offshore and deep-water fishing where bottom detail and water-column targets need to be read well below the range of single-element transducers.
Its narrow beam, 8 x 17 degrees at low frequency and 5 degrees at high frequency, concentrates acoustic energy onto the target for crisp returns at depth. The unit reports both depth and temperature and terminates in an 8-pin connector on a 39 ft cable. It is an external thru-hull design and is normally installed with a high-performance fairing to give a truly vertical beam.
The R99 supports hull deadrise angles from 0 to 25 degrees. When connecting to an older 6-pin Garmin sounder, transducer adapter cable 010-11612-00 is required.
