Description
The Raymarine Type 2 hydraulic linear drive is a self-contained hydraulic steering system that allows an Evolution autopilot to steer heavy displacement vessels with mechanical steering. It consists of a high-performance reversing hydraulic pump, hydraulic steering ram, fluid reservoir and hydraulic lines, and is supplied filled, bled and ready to install.
The hydraulic steering ram is anchored to the boat's structural members and attaches to the rudder stock via an independent tiller arm; accessory fittings from your steering system manufacturer may be required. The Type 2 configuration is suitable for vessels up to 22,000kg (48,500 lbs) displacement. This 12-volt model matches 12-volt DC electrical systems.
All Raymarine hydraulic linear drive systems require an Evolution ACU-400 actuator control unit, which provides power to the drive and interfaces with the EV-1 sensor core and the rest of the pilot. Because of the high forces involved, Raymarine recommends professional installation.
