Description
The BP-227 is the standard Li-ion battery pack for the Icom IC-M87 marine/PBR handheld and the IC-F51V/IC-F61V PMR handhelds. It is a 7.2 V pack rated at 1,850 mAh typical (1,700 mAh minimum) and clips directly onto the back of the radio.
This is the non-ATEX version. Radios taken into a potentially explosive atmosphere must instead be fitted with the ATEX-approved BP-227AX or BP-227AXD pack - the packs are physically similar but are not interchangeable where certification matters.
Charge it in the BC-152 desktop trickle charger, the BC-190 rapid desktop charger, or in a BC-119N/BC-121N fitted with an AD-100 adapter cup. Li-ion cells have no memory effect, so the pack can be topped up at any state of charge.
