Description

The Raymarine P79S is a smart, NMEA 2000 in-hull depth transducer that reads through a solid fibreglass hull with no protrusion whatsoever, making it ideal for trailered boats and owners who want to minimise drag. It comes with the P79 fitting kit: an adjustable flange that bonds to the inside of the hull with quick-setting marine epoxy, is dialled in to match the boat's deadrise angle, then filled with non-toxic antifreeze before the active transducer cap is locked in place for a straight-down beam.

The P79S provides digital depth data over a DeviceNet NMEA 2000 connector, plugging directly into your network for display on connected instruments and chartplotters. It operates at 235 kHz, offset from the 50/200 kHz fishfinder band to avoid interference, and accommodates deadrise angles from 2 to 22 degrees. As an in-hull design it has no water-temperature sensor and is intended for solid fibreglass hulls up to 5/8 inch thick (or aluminium under 3.8 mm).

PRODUCT DETAILS

  • In-hull depth transducer reads through a solid fibreglass hull with no external protrusion
  • Smart digital depth output over a DeviceNet NMEA 2000 connector
  • 235 kHz operating frequency avoids interference with a 50/200 kHz fishfinder transducer
  • Adjustable flange accommodates hull deadrise angles from 2 to 22 degrees
  • Supplied with the P79 fitting kit for epoxy installation, no cutting or drilling required
  • 6 m cable with DeviceNet (NMEA 2000) connector
  • As an in-hull design there is no water-temperature sensor

Does the P79S need a hole in the hull?
No. The P79S is an in-hull transducer that bonds to the inside of a solid fibreglass hull and reads through it, so there is no hole and no external drag.
Does the P79S measure temperature or speed?
No. As an in-hull design it measures depth only; there is no water-temperature or speed sensor.
What hulls is it suitable for?
Solid fibreglass hulls up to 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick, or aluminium hulls under 3.8 mm. It is not suitable for cored hulls. It supports deadrise angles from 2 to 22 degrees.
