Description
The P79 is an entry-level plastic in-hull transducer with an adjustable deadrise cradle that makes installation straightforward. It shoots its signal through a solid fibreglass hull, so there is no need to drill below the waterline, no drag and no housing exposed to marine growth or trailer damage.
Operating at 50 kHz and 200 kHz, it reaches depths of 800 to 1,200 ft with a wide 45 degree low-frequency and 12 degree high-frequency beam. The unit reports depth and connects through an 8-pin plug on a 25 ft cable. The adjustable mount accommodates hull deadrise angles from 0 to 22 degrees.
The P79 must be bonded to solid fibreglass no more than 5/8 in thick and is not suitable for cored hulls. When connecting to a 6-pin Garmin sounder, transducer adapter cable 010-11612-00 is required.
