The B&G ForwardScan transducer gives you a clear, forward-looking 2D view of the bottom ahead, helping you navigate shallow or poorly charted waters with confidence. It runs at 180 kHz, sees up to eight times your current depth and adds a built-in temperature sensor. This is the transducer only, with no sleeve or plug.

Description

The ForwardScan transducer looks ahead of the boat rather than straight down, building a 2D profile of the seabed so you can see a shoaling bottom or an obstruction before you reach it. Running at 180 kHz it typically shows four to five times your current depth ahead - up to eight times in good conditions - and carries a built-in temperature sensor.

This is the short-stem transducer on its own: no through-hull sleeve, no blanking plug. Order it when you are replacing the transducer element in an existing ForwardScan installation. If you are fitting ForwardScan for the first time, take the full kit with sleeve and plug instead.

Does this transducer include a sleeve or plug?
No. This is the ForwardScan transducer only. If you do not already have a ForwardScan through-hull sleeve fitted, choose the transducer kit with sleeve and plug, or the Long Stem kit for thicker hulls.
What does ForwardScan show me?
ForwardScan provides a simple, forward-looking 2D sonar view of the bottom ahead of your boat. It helps you avoid running aground in shallow, unfamiliar or poorly charted waters and is a useful tool for finding a safe spot to anchor.
How far ahead can ForwardScan see?
Under ideal conditions ForwardScan can look ahead up to eight times your current depth, with a nominal forward view of four to five times your depth. For example, in 3 m (10 ft) of water you can typically see 12 to 15 m (40 to 50 ft) ahead. Maximum forward range is 91 m (300 ft).
Will ForwardScan interfere with my existing depth sounder?
No. The ForwardScan transducer operates at 180 kHz, which is specifically chosen to minimise interference from traditional 200 kHz fish-finding and depth-tracking sonar, so it can be used alongside your existing echosounder.
How does it connect to my display?
The transducer connects to the StructureScan HD port (black 9-pin) on a compatible multifunction display, or to a SonarHub sounder module on your Ethernet network so the data can be shared with networked displays.
