B&G, Simrad ForwardScan Technology ForwardScan provides forward-looking, two-dimensional sonar imaging of the bottom ahead of your boat. In shallow, unfamiliar, or poorly-charted waters, ForwardScan is a powerful defence against running around, and an invaluable tool for locating secure sites to drop anchor. The ForwardScan transducer operates at 180kHz to reduce interference from traditional 200kHz echosounders, and provides: Maximum forward view of 8X your current depth e.g. at 3m (10ft) depth, see up to 24m (80ft) ahead. Nominal forward view of 4-5X your current depth e.g. At 3m (10ft) depth, see 12-15m (40-50ft) ahead. ForwardScan Long Stem transducer with Sleeve & Plug.

When should I choose the Long Stem ForwardScan transducer?
The Long Stem version is designed for thick or steeply inclined hulls. Its extended stainless steel sleeve and dedicated fairing block accommodate hulls up to 47.6 mm (1 7/8 inch) thick and up to 28 degrees deadrise, where the standard ForwardScan transducer would not fit.
How far ahead can ForwardScan see?
Under ideal conditions ForwardScan can look ahead up to eight times your current depth, with a nominal forward view of four to five times your depth. For example, in 3 m (10 ft) of water you can typically see 12 to 15 m (40 to 50 ft) ahead. Maximum forward range is 91 m (300 ft).
Can the transducer be removed while afloat?
Yes. The through-hull housing has a built-in self-closing valve, so the ForwardScan transducer can be inserted and removed from the sleeve while the boat is on the water, allowing quick and easy maintenance.
Will ForwardScan interfere with my existing depth sounder?
No. The ForwardScan transducer operates at 180 kHz, which is specifically chosen to minimise interference from traditional 200 kHz fish-finding and depth-tracking sonar, so it can be used alongside your existing echosounder.
How does it connect to my display?
The transducer connects to the StructureScan HD port (black 9-pin) on a compatible multifunction display, or to a SonarHub sounder module on your Ethernet network so the data can be shared with networked displays.
