The Garmin M265LH is the in-hull version of the B265LH: a 1 kW dual-band CHIRP transducer (42-65 and 130-210 kHz) that mounts in a tank inside a solid fibreglass hull. It sounds to 3,000 ft and works with a built-in 1 kW CHIRP sounder or a GSD 26 / GSD 25 module.

Description

The Garmin M265LH is the in-hull version of the B265LH high-power CHIRP transducer. It installs into the supplied tank, cut to the hull deadrise and bonded inside the hull, and transmits sonar directly through solid fibreglass, so there is no hole to drill, no drag and no exposure to marine growth. The 8-element broadband array sweeps a 42 to 65 kHz low band and a 130 to 210 kHz high band, for 103 kHz of total bandwidth from one transducer. With 1 kW of transmit power the low band sounds to 3,000 ft and the high band to 1,000 ft, while the narrow beam at both frequencies keeps image detail sharp. The in-hull tank suits solid fibreglass hulls only, up to 30 degrees deadrise, and can be used with inboard, I/O, outboard or jet-drive boats. The in-hull configuration reads depth only. The M265LH runs on Garmin chartplotters with a built-in 1 kW CHIRP sounder, or through the Garmin GSD 26 or GSD 25 sonar module.

PRODUCT DETAILS

  • In-hull broadband CHIRP transducer, dual 42-65 kHz (low) and 130-210 kHz (high) bands
  • 1 kW of transmit power with 103 kHz of total bandwidth from an 8-element ceramic array
  • Installs into the supplied tank bonded inside the hull, so no hole is drilled and there is no drag or marine growth
  • Narrow beam at both frequencies provides crisp image detail to 3,000 ft
  • For solid fibreglass hulls only, up to 30 deg deadrise
  • Depth only (no water-temperature sensor in the in-hull configuration)
  • Runs on Garmin units with a built-in 1 kW CHIRP sounder, or via the GSD 26 or GSD 25 sonar module
  • M265LH transducer with 39 ft (12 m) cable

How is the M265LH installed?
It is an in-hull transducer. It mounts in the supplied tank, cut to the hull deadrise and bonded inside the hull, and sounds through solid fibreglass, so no hole is drilled. It suits solid fibreglass hulls only, up to 30 degrees deadrise.
How does the M265LH differ from the B265LH?
They share the same 8-element CHIRP array, 42-65 and 130-210 kHz bands and 1 kW power. The M265LH is the in-hull (tank-mount) version, while the B265LH is a bronze external thru-hull. The in-hull M265LH reads depth only.
Does the M265LH need a separate sonar module?
Not necessarily. It runs directly on Garmin chartplotters that have a built-in 1 kW CHIRP sounder, such as the GPSMAP xsv series. Where there is no built-in 1 kW sounder it can be driven by the Garmin GSD 26 or GSD 25 sonar module.
Does the M265LH read water temperature?
No. In its in-hull configuration the M265LH provides depth only and does not include a water-temperature sensor.
Can the M265LH be fitted to a cored hull?
No. In-hull transducers require a solid fibreglass hull to transmit through. The M265LH must not be installed in cored hulls.
