Description
The Balmar 60-100-SV is a 100-amp, 12-volt marine alternator from Balmar's top-selling 6-Series, engineered to deliver high-output charging performance in a compact, small-case package. It uses a 3.15 inch saddle (dual-foot) mount in the Hitachi style that suits many Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman and Perkins-Sabre diesels, and it is fitted with a single half-inch deep-vee pulley and an isolated-ground terminal for clean continuity to the vessel's system ground. Dual-fan cooling and a high-airflow frame help the alternator sustain output in the confined, warm spaces typical of an engine room.
The 60-100-SV features Balmar's patented Smart Ready internal regulator. Where battery loads are modest and the engine runs frequently, the internal regulator can support the electrical system on its own, while vessels with larger deep-cycle banks or a lighter engine duty cycle can add a Balmar ARS-5 or Max Charge multi-stage external regulator for fully programmable, battery-specific charging. Built to USCG Title 33, ISO, SAE and CE requirements, it draws roughly 4.0 horsepower at full 100-amp output and is rated for a maximum of 12,000 alternator RPM.

Does the 60-100-SV need an external regulator?
Not necessarily. The 6-Series uses Balmar's Smart Ready internal regulator, which can support the system on its own when battery loads are modest and the engine runs often. For larger deep-cycle banks or lighter engine duty cycles, add a Balmar ARS-5 or Max Charge external regulator for programmable, battery-specific multi-stage charging.
Which engines does the 3.15 inch saddle mount fit?
The 60 Series uses a 3.15 inch dual-foot saddle mount in the Hitachi style, which is typical for many Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman and Perkins-Sabre diesel engines. Confirm your engine's mounting foot and belt arrangement before ordering.
What pulley does the SV version use?
The SV designation means a single half-inch deep-vee pulley. Balmar also offers dual-vee and serpentine (K6, J10) pulley options across the 6-Series if your engine requires a different belt configuration.
