Description
The Balmar 60-120-K6 is a 120-amp, 12-volt marine alternator from Balmar's top-selling 6-Series, delivering strong charging output from a compact, small-case frame. It mounts on a 3.15 inch saddle (dual-foot) bracket in the Hitachi style used by many Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman and Perkins-Sabre diesels, and is fitted with a K6 serpentine pulley plus an isolated-ground terminal for reliable continuity to the vessel's system ground. Dual-fan cooling and a high-airflow frame help the unit hold its output in the warm confines of a typical engine space.
The 60-120-K6 uses Balmar's patented Smart Ready internal regulator. When battery loads are modest and the engine runs frequently, the internal regulator can carry the electrical system alone; for larger deep-cycle banks or a lighter engine duty cycle, pair it with a Balmar ARS-5 or Max Charge multi-stage external regulator to tailor charging to the battery chemistry. Built to USCG Title 33, ISO, SAE and CE standards, it draws roughly 4.8 horsepower at full 120-amp output and is rated for up to 12,000 alternator RPM.

Does the 60-120-K6 need an external regulator?
Not always. The 6-Series uses Balmar's Smart Ready internal regulator and can run on its own for modest loads with frequent engine use. For larger deep-cycle banks or lighter engine duty cycles, add a Balmar ARS-5 or Max Charge external regulator to get programmable, battery-specific multi-stage charging that gets the most from the 120-amp output.
What is a K6 serpentine pulley?
K6 refers to a 6-groove serpentine (poly-V) pulley. Serpentine belts spread the load over more grooves than a single vee belt, which helps transmit the higher power take-off of a 120-amp alternator without belt slip. Balmar also offers single-vee, dual-vee and J10 pulley options across the 6-Series.
Which engines does the 3.15 inch saddle mount fit?
The 60 Series uses a 3.15 inch dual-foot saddle mount in the Hitachi style, typical for many Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman and Perkins-Sabre diesels. Check your engine's mounting foot and belt configuration before ordering.
