Description
The Balmar 621-120-K6 is a 120-amp, 12-volt marine alternator from Balmar's top-selling 6-Series. It combines the compact, small-case design of the range with a 1 to 2 inch single-foot spindle mount in the Motorola and Delco style, so it drops in as a high-output upgrade on engines fitted with a common single-foot alternator. It is supplied with a K6 serpentine pulley and an isolated-ground terminal, and dual-fan cooling with a high-airflow frame helps sustain output in a hot engine space.
The 621-120-K6 uses Balmar's patented Smart Ready internal regulator. Where battery loads are modest and the engine runs frequently, the internal regulator can carry the system alone, while larger deep-cycle banks or a lighter engine duty cycle can be served by adding a Balmar ARS-5 or Max Charge multi-stage external regulator to match charging to the battery chemistry. Built to USCG Title 33, ISO, SAE and CE standards, it draws roughly 4.8 horsepower at full 120-amp output and is rated for up to 12,000 alternator RPM.

What is the difference between the 621 Series and the 60 Series?
Both are 6-Series alternators with the same electrical output and Smart Ready regulator. The 621 Series uses a 1 to 2 inch single-foot spindle mount (Motorola / Delco style), while the 60 Series uses a 3.15 inch dual-foot saddle mount (Hitachi style). Pick the version that matches your engine's mounting foot.
What is a K6 serpentine pulley?
K6 is a 6-groove serpentine (poly-V) pulley. A serpentine belt spreads load across more grooves than a single vee belt, helping transmit the higher power take-off of a 120-amp alternator without slip. Single-vee, dual-vee and J10 options are also available.
Does the 621-120-K6 need an external regulator?
Not always. The Smart Ready internal regulator can support modest loads when the engine runs often. For larger deep-cycle banks or lighter engine duty cycles, add a Balmar ARS-5 or Max Charge external regulator for programmable, battery-specific multi-stage charging that makes the most of the 120-amp output.
