Description
The Balmar 94-12-210-IG is a 210-amp, 12-volt large-case marine alternator built to support substantial house battery banks of up to roughly 800 amp hours. Designed for mid-duty-cycle service on diesel engines, it carries extra heavy-duty custom-wound stators, high-amperage diode packs and heavy-duty brushes, all housed in a ventilated cast-aluminium case with a corrosion-resistant white powder-coat finish. From ocean racers to commercial fishing and patrol vessels, the 94-Series has a proven record supporting demanding electrical loads in tough marine conditions.
The 94-12-210-IG uses a 2 inch single-foot spindle mount in the Delco style, with a dual half-inch deep-vee pulley and an isolated-ground terminal that provides sure continuity to system ground. It is engineered for use with an external Balmar multi-stage voltage regulator, so charging voltage can be tailored to the battery chemistry for the best balance of speed and safety. Bi-directional external cooling fans, sealed ball bearings and a threaded M8 stud positive output round out a design built to USCG Title 33 ignition-protection standards. This model is part of the 94-Series, which Balmar discontinued in 2024.

Does the 94-12-210-IG require an external regulator?
Yes. Unlike Balmar's Smart Ready 6-Series, the large-case 94-Series has no internal regulator and is engineered for external multi-stage regulation. Pair it with a Balmar regulator such as the Max Charge or ARS-5 so charging voltage can be tailored to your battery type for safe, efficient charging.
How large a battery bank can it support?
The 94-Series is a large-frame, mid-duty-cycle alternator sized to support house banks of up to roughly 800 amp hours at 12 volts. Its custom-wound stator and high-amperage diode pack are built to deliver strong output across the diesel powerband.
What mounting and pulley does it use?
It uses a 2 inch single-foot spindle mount in the Delco style, typical of engines such as Volvo Penta, John Deere, Perkins and many GM-based marine engines. It ships with a dual half-inch deep-vee pulley, and Balmar can fit a serpentine pulley on request.
