Description

The Balmar SG200 is a second generation, expandable battery monitor that learns your battery bank and reports its true condition on a bright, sunlight readable colour display housed in a standard 2 inch round gauge. Using a precision SmartShunt to measure every amp flowing in and out, the SG200 continuously calculates State of Charge, State of Health, current, voltage and time remaining, and it reaches around 97 percent accuracy within two charge cycles without losing accuracy as the batteries age. It suits all common chemistries including flooded lead acid, AGM, gel and lithium (LiFePO4), and scales automatically to 12, 24, 36 or 48 volt systems. Out of the box the kit monitors one house battery or bank plus voltage on up to two starting batteries, and the modular SmartLink network lets you grow the system by adding further SmartShunts for additional banks and extra colour displays for other helm stations. Everything connects with a shielded four wire SmartLink cable, and an optional Bluetooth gateway links the monitor to the Balmar SmartLink smartphone app. The complete kit supplied here includes the colour display, the 350 amp SmartShunt and a 10 metre SmartLink communication cable.

Do I need a shunt with the SG200?
Yes. Unlike the algorithm based Smartgauge, the SG200 uses a precision SmartShunt to measure the actual current flowing in and out of the bank. The 350A SmartShunt is included in this kit and installs on the main negative connection of the battery bank.
Which battery types and voltages does the SG200 support?
The SG200 works with flooded lead acid, AGM, gel and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. It scales automatically to 12, 24, 36 and 48 volt systems and monitors banks from 1Ah up to 1310Ah.
Can I monitor more than one battery bank?
Yes. Out of the box the kit monitors one house bank plus voltage on up to two starting batteries. Additional banks are monitored by adding further SmartShunts to the SmartLink network, and extra colour displays can be added for other helm stations, up to 32 devices in total.
