Description
The Garmin B258 is a mid-range 1 kW bronze thru-hull transducer built for deep water and clean bottom definition. Its dual-frequency 50/200 kHz element produces a narrow beam, 14 x 23 degrees at 50 kHz and a very tight 3 x 5 degrees at 200 kHz, that concentrates energy on the bottom and holds target detail far deeper than a typical 600 W transducer. Depth and water-temperature data are returned to compatible Garmin sounders.
The transducer accommodates hull deadrise angles from 0 to 26 degrees and reads to between 1,500 and 2,200 ft depending on water conditions and frequency. It terminates in an 8-pin Garmin connector on a 39 ft cable; a 6-pin Garmin sounder requires adapter cable 010-11612-00. Supplied with installation hardware and instructions, which should be followed carefully to avoid damaging the hull.
