Description
This is the Garmin gWind Race masthead wind transducer supplied on its own as a replacement head. Designed for racing sailboats, it adds a 1 m straight pole that raises the sensor above the mast to reduce turbulence errors. The twin-fin design with a 3-bladed propeller and optical sensor reading delivers accurate True Wind Speed in light air and a stable True Wind Angle.
It mounts on a horizontal surface at the mast head and includes a 25 m cable. A Garmin GND 10 black box bridge is required so the Nexus Network and compatible Garmin chartplotters and instruments can share the wind data over NMEA 2000.
Supplied as the transducer only, this configuration makes it straightforward to replace an existing gWind Race sensor.
