Description

The Victron Lynx Shunt VE.Can combines a main system fuse holder and a precision battery monitor in a single Lynx Distribution module. It carries a positive busbar with space for the main system fuse and a negative busbar fitted with a shunt, so it measures battery current, voltage and state of charge at the heart of the DC system.

Battery data is shared over VE.Can and NMEA 2000, which means it integrates directly with a Victron GX device and the VRM portal for local and remote monitoring, and reports onto a marine NMEA 2000 network. A temperature sensor is included for temperature-compensated readings, and a potential-free alarm contact can drive external alarms. The shunt is suitable for all battery types, making it the natural choice where a Lynx Smart BMS is not required.

Rated for 1000 A continuous at 12, 24 or 48 V, the Lynx Shunt VE.Can bolts to other Lynx modules to build a complete busbar with battery monitoring and central fusing. It ships ready to monitor, with two VE.Can RJ45 terminators and the temperature sensor in the box. The M10 version uses M10 busbar joints, while the fuse and cable connections are M8; a Mega, ANL or CNN fuse is fitted in the main fuse position and is sold separately.

What does the Lynx Shunt VE.Can do?
It combines a main system fuse holder with a built-in battery monitor (shunt) on a Lynx busbar. It measures battery current, voltage and state of charge and shares that data over VE.Can and NMEA 2000 for monitoring on a GX device, the VRM portal or a marine network.
Is the main fuse included?
No. The main system fuse is sold separately so you can match the rating to your system. The M8 fuse holder accepts a Mega, ANL or CNN type fuse, and the unit ships with a fuse-dummy busbar so the system can run before the fuse is fitted.
When should I choose the Lynx Shunt VE.Can over the Lynx Smart BMS?
Choose the Lynx Shunt VE.Can for systems with lead-acid or non-Victron lithium batteries that need battery monitoring and central fusing but not lithium battery management. The Lynx Smart BMS is required for Victron Smart Lithium batteries.
Is a temperature sensor included?
Yes. A temperature sensor is supplied so the battery monitor can apply temperature compensation. Two VE.Can RJ45 terminators are also included in the box.
Does it have Bluetooth?
No. The Lynx Shunt VE.Can communicates over VE.Can and NMEA 2000 rather than Bluetooth. Connect it to a GX device to view data in VictronConnect and on the VRM portal.
Can a Lynx Distributor report fuse status through it?
A Lynx Distributor connected to the Lynx Shunt VE.Can will have its monitoring LEDs powered, but remote fuse-status reporting to an app or GX device requires a Lynx Smart BMS rather than the Lynx Shunt VE.Can.
