Description
The Raymarine Type 2 hydraulic pump is a reversing pump drive for boats with traditional hydraulic steering. Working under the control of the Evolution autopilot Actuator Control Unit (ACU-400), it manages the flow of fluid through the boat's existing steering system so the autopilot can steer the boat accurately and smoothly.
Raymarine offers pumps of different flow rates so the drive can be matched to the volume of the hydraulic steering ram. This Type 2 pump is sized for steering cylinders of 230 to 350cc (14 to 21 cubic inches). Selecting the pump that covers your ram volume ensures the boat responds to steering commands at the right rate, rather than too quickly or too slowly. Raymarine advises against moving up or down the range, as this offers no performance gain and can make the boat steer poorly.
This 12-volt model is intended for 12-volt DC electrical systems and pairs with the ACU-400. The pump forms the muscle of the autopilot system, connecting to the EV-1 sensor core and control head through the actuator control unit.
